Academic Course Tutors
The Metanoia Institute offers a range of taught psychotherapy and counselling programmes. The Institute wishes to appoint a number of academic tutors who can contribute to teaching on their undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. In particular, we are looking for tutors who are able to take on the role of primary tutor to a year group, but there may also be some vacancies for occasional tutors.
The people appointed must be professionally accredited psychotherapists and/or counsellors and be experienced tutors within their field. They will be expected to contribute to the delivery of high- quality educational experiences for all students and to have a thorough knowledge of theory, curriculum development, and quality assurance procedures. A record of conference presentations and publication or evidence of the potential to develop in this area is essential.
These are part-time appointments, and the Institute is looking for academics who wish to maintain client involvement in private practice while undertaking this role.
Please state clearly on the application form which of the following post or posts for which you are applying.
Vacancies exist for primary tutors on the following programmes: -
MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and BSc in Humanistic Counselling – An integration and thorough grounding in the theory and practice of the humanistic and integrative approaches of Person Centred, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis theory. Tutors need to be qualified in one of these approaches, with hopefully a working knowledge in at least one of the other approaches. Both of these courses run one day a week (Monday 12 – 8 or 12.30 to 8.30) for up to 30 weeks a year (although the teaching commitment is likely to be up to 20 days a year).
MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy – An integrative approach based on important current research grounded in developmental and relational concepts and interpersonal neurobiology which emphasises meeting clients where they are in a responsive manner that does not prioritise a specific modality focus. This course runs one weekend a month over 10 months of the year.
MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy – A full transactional Analysis psychotherapy training, which specialises in a relational approach to Berne’s integrative theory. Applicants must hold relevant TA qualifications; namely they must be either a Provisional (PTSTA) or a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA) This course runs one weekend a month over 10 months of the year.
MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy - The Gestalt programme provides a thorough theoretical base to Contemporary Gestalt therapy alongside a scrupulous process of experiential and clinical training. While the professional development of competent practitioners is the focus of the training, creativity, experimentation and enjoyment are also important.
MSc in Contemporary Person Centred Psychotherapy and Applications - (Sessional tutors only) This course aims to support students to develop as sophisticated Person Centred therapists familiar with issues and approaches used in a variety of settings where contemporary therapeutic work is evolving and able to relate these to the Person Centred approach.
The Metanoia Institute is at an exciting time in its 30-year history of developing under-graduate and post-graduate courses in Counselling and Psychotherapy and intends to seek in the future its own degree awarding powers and in time University Title.
