Disability and Student Support Officer - Part time
The Institute wishes to appoint a Disability and Student Support Officer to provide confidential support and advice for students with disabilities (including those applying to become students) to ensure they are able to access all aspects of the academic environment and if appropriate, access DSA funding to assist with this. The post holder will be expected to maintain a case load of students, and oversee local arrangements for support.
The successful applicant will also provide comprehensive advice to staff, to ensure that they can best support any needs that the student may have as they progress through their programme of study. Key duties will include:
1. To provide high quality information, advice and guidance to students with a disability.
2. To provide accurate information and advice to students on disability issues including applying for Disabled Students’ Allowance.
3. To provide guidance and when required, training to staff on disability issues and relevant Metanoia Institute processes. For example, to make recommendations about reasonable adjustments, inclusion plans and examination arrangements.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check. The person appointed will also play an important role in supporting the Institute’s strategic aims as it seeks to move toward Degree Awarding Powers and University Title.
