Research Academy

Metanoia Institute, London 21st - 22nd March 2018

The Research Academy aims to develop and support a research community for therapists. This year it offered workshops with different approaches, ranging from qualitative to quantitative research with a focus on the improvement of practice. Our speakers included Professor Carla Willig, Professor Mick Cooper, Professor Bill Stiles, Dr Marie Adams and Dr Alan Priest. Some immediate feedback has been:

“It has been a good two days and will be very useful when I get down to my dissertation”

“It feels like a privilege to partake in such an informative and easy to understand Seminars/workshops. The workshops I attended were just the right selection - beneficial and according to my needs. Allan Priest responded to all my queries, it was a great day for me indeed. Mary Atito, leading the discussion group, was also helpful, sharing her ideas and being very passionate about research”

"I really enjoyed the day. I found it so nice to be working with students who actually are interested in research and want to do it, rather than feeling that they have to do it in order to get their degree. Participants in my group were great and really engaged and debated with each other. Plus of course it's always nice to be back at Metanoia. The sun always seems to be shining there!”

Each speaker introduced core concepts and research strategies, with opportunities for participants to discuss own research projects and ideas. We finished day 1 with a conference drinks reception to network across the groups. The main themes over the two days were:
