Biography:

Nigel has spent the whole of his professional life working within the NHS establishing four departments of Spiritual Care within mental health services. In 2016 the Department he currently leads in East London was awarded ‘outstanding’ status by the Care Quality Commission. Nigel’s early research was with the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health where he undertook the first qualitative studies on mental health and spirituality within the NHS. Currently he is focused on reaching out to the diverse Faith communities in East London seeking to establish research within the community. He lives in East London and remains passionate in advocating for the spiritual needs of those who use mental health services. His original training was as a Gestalt Psychotherapist.
