Sessional Academic Course Tutor(s) for Various Programmes
Due to an expansion in its provision the Metanoia Institute is seeking to appoint to the following posts: - Academic Course Tutors.
The Metanoia Institute offers a range of taught psychotherapy and counselling programmes. The Institute wishes to appoint a number of sessional academic tutors who can contribute to teaching on their undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.
In particular, we are looking for tutors who are able to take on the role of primary tutor to a year group, but there may also be some vacancies for occasional tutors. The people appointed must be professionally accredited psychotherapists and/or counsellors and be experienced tutors within their field. They will be expected to contribute to the delivery of high- quality educational experiences for all students and to have a thorough knowledge of theory, curriculum development, and quality assurance procedures. A record of conference presentations and publication or evidence of the potential to develop in this area is essential. You will have a Post-graduate qualification in Counselling/Psychotherapy or Counselling Psychology and be registered with the relevant professional body (BACP, UKCP or BPS and HCPC). Candidates should have experience in providing Counselling and Psychotherapy services and in supervising practice. Ideally applicants will have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) or relevant teaching experience.
Vacancies exist for the following programmes:
MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy - The Gestalt programme provides a thorough theoretical base to Contemporary Gestalt therapy alongside a scrupulous process of experiential and clinical training. Whilst the professional development of competent practitioners is the focus of the training, creativity, experimentation and enjoyment are also important.
BSc Person Centred Pluralistic Counselling (Advanced Practitioner) - This course offers a core training in person centred counselling, in all its many expressions. There is a strong focus on experiential and expressive arts approaches, and a pluralistic emphasis on dialogue and coproduction.
Dip/MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and BSc in Humanistic Counselling – An integration and thorough grounding in the theory and practice of the humanistic and integrative approaches of Person Centred, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis theory. Tutors need to be qualified in one of these approaches, with hopefully a working knowledge in at least one of the other approaches. Both of these courses run one day a week (Monday 12 – 8 or 12.30 to 8.30) for up to 30 weeks a year (although the teaching commitment is likely to be up to 20 days a year).

Applicants must hold relevant TA qualifications; namely they must be either a Provisional (PTSTA) or a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA) This course runs one weekend a month over 10 months of the year.
MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy – An integrative approach based on important current research grounded in developmental and relational concepts and interpersonal neurobiology which emphasises meeting clients where they are in a responsive manner that does not prioritise a specific modality focus. This course runs one weekend a month over 10 months of the year.
