The image of the killing of George Floyd will leave a lasting impression on society. The impact on all of us and particularly the effect on our black staff and students is palpable. Racism and inequality have a lasting affect and should not be tolerated. The Institute wishes to offer support to our students and staff who are experiencing distress and anger.

The Board and Executive are determined to work for equality and social justice and build a community of staff and students, who feel able to express their experiences of racism or inequality, in the knowledge they will be supported.

Metanoia Institute strives to be inclusive as stated in our Ethos and Values.

Discrimination strikes at the heart of being human. It harms one’s rights simply by being who we are or what we believe. Discrimination is harmful and perpetuates inequality.

The Institute’s policy and practice is that all staff and students have the right to be treated equally regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, class, caste, religion, sex, gender language, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics, age, health, or other status.

No one should experience discrimination at the Metanoia Institute. We intend to monitor our policies and processes to prevent systemic racism or bias.
